Johnny Wright Graduate

Why did you decide to attend World Wide College of Auctioneering?

I attended World Wide College of Auctioneering in 1992, one day after graduating high school. I grew up going to an average of three sales a week with my granddaddy to the stockyards. I knew at a young age that I wanted to be an auctioneer. Several years later, I attended the Advanced Bid Calling Seminar to improve my chant.  I did not attend the Advanced Bid Calling Seminar with a goal of competing, I attended with a desire to improve my chant. I asked several auctioneers where I should attend auction school and World Wide College of Auctioneering came up every time.

What one thing surprised you most about auction school?

The thing that surprised me the most was how in detail the instructors were.

What state do you live in?

I live in the Great State of Mississippi.

Tell us about your family.

I am happily married to my wife Ashlyn of 23 years. We have a son TJ and a daughter Lara.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose to live?

If I could live anywhere, I would choose to live right where I am, Mississippi.

Tell us about one "aha" moment while attending auction school.

My "aha" moment was when I realized that I don't have to sound like anyone, but me.

Do you have a favorite quote that motivates you each day?

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

How many siblings do you have?

I have an older brother, Tony.

Do you have a favorite auction company, if so, which one and why?

My favorite auction company would be Meadows livestock in Mize, Mississippi. Mr Larry Meadows has given me an opportunity and I work every horse sale and equipment sale every month

Anything else you would like to add?

Since attending the World Wide College of Auctioneering Advanced Bid Calling Seminar, I have had approximately four Saturdays off since October of 2015. I also competed in the 2016 Mississippi auctioneer bid calling contest and won Rookie of the year and got elected to the Board of directors. The Advanced Bid Calling Class at World Wide College of Auctioneering is the best thing that has happened in my career. I am grateful for the opportunities that continue to come my way. Thank you World Wide College of Auctioneering!
